The “Coolest” Marathon in Arizona!

The Flagstaff Marathon takes place completely off-road on the Coconino National Forest at the Flagstaff Nordic Center, which provides a scenic course and a great “vibe” for the participants. The event includes a half marathon, a 10 k race, and a “kids kilo.” The course ranges from 8,000 feet to 8,600 feet in elevation, which gives the race a degree of cachet among distance runners and trail runners. Proceeds from the event go to North Country HealthCare to help provide quality healthcare to people regardless of their ability to pay. At North Country HealthCare nobody gets turned away. The Flagstaff Marathon has quickly become North Country HealthCare’s signature fundraising event. It is a nice fit for the community health center because it symbolizes health, hard work, and commitment to the long haul. Billed as the “coolest marathon in Arizona”, the event on Saturday, September 25th will attract runners from all over Arizona for the fall weather, the beautiful scenery, the well planned course, and the good vibe. Since the race began in 2006, it has received compliments every year for its down-to earth atmosphere and its supportive volunteers. The T-shirts for the event have a degree of cachet among trail runners and they can be seen year round on the Flagstaff streets. Runners who finish the full marathon and half marathon distances also receive medallions in recognition of their achievements. The evening before the race, Flagstaff’s Pesto Brothers Piazza will provide a hearty pre-race pasta dinner for racers who arepicking up their packets. The event is expected to sell out by race day, and it promises to be the best ever.
