Mayoral campaign donations in 2010 exceed $16,000
February 28, 2010
The three-way battle for cash in the Flagstaff mayoral primary heated up in the first 48 days of 2010, with candidates raising more than $16,000, mostly from local donors.
But who gave to which campaign might be more interesting that how much was raised overall.
Lowell Observatory Trustee Bill Putnam gave $200 to Mayor Sara Presler's re-election campaign in January, adding to the $150 he gave to her campaign last fall. Former NAU President Gene Hughes and his wife also gave to her campaign, a total of $100, in January.
Presler is the only candidate so far to take campaign donations from political action committees, taking in slightly more than $2,000 from five PACS.
Only one was from Flagstaff -- the United Flagstaff Fire Fighters PAC fund. The rest were from either the Phoenix metro area or Tucson.
