Williams Health Care Center has served the community of Williams and the surrounding areas for more than 60 years.
Originally opened in 1950 as a hospital, the center has evolved over the past decades to serve the needs of the people.
In 1974, the hospital district bought the hospital from city of Williams and asked the Lutheran Home Society to manage it. In 1980, the Lutherans terminated the management agreement, which forced the hospital to close. In 1981, the hospital re-opened as an "emergency center" under the management of Flagstaff hospital. An emergency room was available 24 hours per day, but relied on local community physicians to come in when needed to treat any emergencies. During these years, most of the old hospital building sat vacant.
