Eric Henley

I’m a Family Physician (Georgetown for med school; University of Conn for residency) with an MPH (Harvard).  I worked for Indian Health Service for 9+ years (Hopi, Albuquerque), did rural locums for a few years (Alaska, NM), and worked in an urban FP (Cambridge, MA). For the past 13 years, I’ve been in academic medicine at the University of IL Chicago’s regional campus in Rockford, the last nine of which I was chair of the family and community medicine department. The dept includes a residency in Rockford, a rural residency, and 3 med student teaching offices. I helped start, direct, and taught in a regional MPH pgm that was part of UIC. I have a strong interest in community health and helped start several school-based clinics in IL, and led our dept’s effort to provide medical care at the local methadone pgm, an adolescent substance abuse facility, and multiple nursing homes and hospices.  Our dept ran the entire health pgm for the county jail (700+ adults).

I joined North Country to move away from academics and find a situation that speaks to my interest in primary care, community health, and care for the underserved.  North Country has all of these plus some interesting educational programs. As you may know, my role here includes medical administration (Flagstaff, Ash Fork, Seligman, Grand Canyon, maybe Winslow), some patient care, and hopefully some teaching. I’m happy to be here and look forward to meeting and getting to know all of you better while helping all of us and the organization provide excellent care and improve the health of the community. If you want to contact me, I’m good with email, my extension is 2057, and my office is opposite medical records.
