What is the Ryan White HIV/AIDS Treatment Modernization Act of 2006?
The Ryan White HIV/AIDS Treatment Modernization Act of 2006 is Federal legislation that addresses the unmet health needs of persons living with HIV/AIDS. The Ryan White HIV/AIDS TMA funds primary healthcare and support services for persons living with HIV/AIDS.
Like many health problems, HIV strikes people in poverty, racial and ethnic populations and other individuals who are underserved by healthcare and prevention systems. HIV often leads to poverty due to costly healthcare or an inability to work that is often accompanied by a loss of health insurance.
Who qualifies under the Ryan White Part B program?
Persons with HIV/AIDS who do not have health insurance and do not qualify for AHCCCS are the primary recipients of services under the Ryan White Part B program in Arizona. County case managers or the program coordinator work with clients to determine eligibility and make referrals for service.
